Communicants Class Concludes

The Communicants Class is scheduled to meet at the Grishams’ home following the worship service, this Sunday, September 5, from 12:45-4:45 pm. We will enjoy lunch as we learn and discuss the fundamentals of Christian faith and practice. This class is required for any children who desire to become communing members of Faith Presbyterian Church, but is suggested for all kids in this age-range – even those who do not expect or desire to become members at this time. At the completion, all those children who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and express a desire to become communing members of our fellowship, whose parents approve, will, upon approval of the Session, be admitted as communing members of this church.

"First Sunday" Postponed

On the “First Sunday” of each month, there is an open house at Pastor Grisham’s home following the communion service, from 12:45-2:45 pm, to which all are invited to come for food and fellowship. This is an opportunity for visitors and new attendees to meet people and to enjoy good fellowship time in a relaxed atmosphere. Welcome!

(Note that the First Sunday that would ordinarily have been scheduled for this Sunday, September 5, has been postponed on account of the annual outdoor worship service and church picnic at Core Creek Park scheduled for the Sunday following, September 12. The next First Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, October 3.)

Faith Academy, September 6

Faith Academy meets Monday, September 6, 7:00-8:30 pm, at the church office in Yardley. This is a seminary-level course in New Testament Greek, primarily designed for some prospective seminary students in our congregation. However, while the course is thus designed for people interested in pressing through the whole book, we are also thinking it would be a wonderful benefit and opportunity for anyone and everyone in the congregation – if only to come even for the first few classes to become familiar with the Greek alphabet, its pronunciation, and some of the foundational basics.

Tuesday Night Gathering

The Yardley Bible Study Fellowship meets this Tuesday, September 7, 7:30 pm, at the home of Vince and Mary Cacciatore. Join us for a devotional study of the Epistle to the Hebrews.

Thursday Night Gatherings

FIRST THURSDAYS: “The Thinklings,” a Christian book discussion fellowship, meets on the FIRST Thursday of each month, 7:30-9:00 pm, at the home of Walt and Judy Samsoe. We’ll be reading and discussing selected passages from C.S. Lewis’ classic book, The Screwtape Letters. Discussion begins at 7:30, but come at 7:15 for a time of fellowship with snacks and refreshments. Next meeting: Thursday, October 7.

SECOND AND FOURTH THURSDAYS: The Pastor's Bible Study (“the Fellowship of the Mystery”) meets on the SECOND and FOURTH Thursdays of each month, 7:15-9:00 pm, at the church office in Yardley. We are continuing our long-term examination of “The Life and Letters of Paul,” and are working through a study of 1 Corinthians. Discussion begins at 7:15, but come at 7:00 for a time of fellowship with snacks and refreshments. Next meeting: this Thursday, September 9.

THIRD THURSDAYS: The Women’s Fellowship Group meets on the THIRD Thursday of each month, 7:00-8:30 pm, at the Wittekinds’ home. We are reading and discussing Max Lucado’s book, Facing Your Giants. This is intended as an evangelistic Bible study, so consider inviting spiritually-seeking friends and neighbors! Next meeting: Thursday, October 21.

"The Zone," September 10

All 6th-10th grade kids are invited to “The Zone,” the youth group that meets at the Reisers’ every Friday evening, 7:00-9:00 pm. For more information, contact Jacob Puckett, Director of Children’s and Youth Ministry. Our next meeting is this Friday, September 10. Parents of Zonites, please mark your calendars and plan to come that evening as well! There will be an important informational meeting for parents at the same time and same place, at which (a) ideas for the future of the youth program will be discussed and (b) you’ll have opportunity to formally meet Jacob and Gina Puckett.

Annual Outdoor Service
and Church Picnic, September 12

“Tabletalk” to Begin September 18!

All 20-somethings of Faith ("30Below") are invited to the launch of a new monthly fellowship dinner meeting, called Tabletalk, to be hosted by the Fields at their home, Saturday, September 18, 7:00 pm. The idea is that we’ll enjoy food, fellowship, and stimulating conversations together. To kick things off, we’ll be celebrating the birthday of J.R.R. Tolkien with a Tolkienesque feast!

God's Garden Summer Recess

There will be no Sunday School classes for the duration of the summer. (Note that Nursery care, however, will continue to be provided during the entire service). God’s Garden Sunday School classes will resume on September 19, the Sunday following our Annual Outdoor Service and Church Picnic (September 12).

Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup, October 2

Did you know that Faith Presbyterian Church participates in the Adopt-a-Highway program administered by PA-DOT? We are responsible to keep clean a stretch of highway, and we need a group of volunteers for Saturday morning, August 7. All new volunteers are required to see a training video, and each person will then be issued safety items (e.g., gloves, orange vests, and garbage bags as provided by PA-DOT). The cleanup takes about 1.5 hours. We’ll meet at the Reisers’ home at 8:30am. For more information, contact Bob Reiser, at turbomom28@comcast.net.

Light the Night Walk, October 9

Faith Presbyterian Church is officially participating in the Light the Night Walk, Saturday, October 9, at 4:30 pm, at the Philadelphia Park Race Track. This is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual evening fundraising Walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. Funds raised support this mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Put on your “Faith Presbyterian Church” tee shirt and sneakers, and walk with us! To help with setup and supplies, sign your name to the volunteer list located at the back table.
