Jules Grisham, Pastor
The pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church is Jules Grisham. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he studied history and economics at New York University (B.A., 1990), and worked for several years in the technology industry in the Washington, DC, area. During this period he came to faith in Christ, and in 1999 he realized that God was calling him to the pastoral ministry.
He pursued theological studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida (M.Div., 2003), and from 2002-2005 served as Pastor of Adult Education at Fourth Presbyterian Church, a 3000-member congregation in Bethesda, Maryland.
In October of 2005 he was called by Bucks Central Church to serve as pastor, and he began his ministry there on Christmas Eve 2005. (The congregation changed its name to Faith Presbyterian Church, November 16, 2008.) He comes to the Newtown area with his wife, Virginia, and son, Guy, full of joy and excitement at the prospect of proclaiming the gospel of grace in Bucks County. To contact Pastor Grisham, please send an e-mail to Jgrisham@faithprez.org.
Mitzi Shetzline, Music Director
Rachel MacKay, Asst. Music Director
Rachel and Mitzi had traveled very similar paths in life prior to meeting one another. They both began their classical piano training at a young age and they were both brought up to serve God with their musical abilities. "I knew early in life that I would always be involved in some aspect of music," says Mitzi. Playing in recitals, competitions, and musical productions further solidified Mitzi's commitment to pursue a musical career and more formal training in college. Rachel's similar background of recitals and competitions also pushed her to major in music in college, where she met Mitzi. "When I met Mitzi, I was not a singer. She made me sing that same week in church. I didn't think I had a choice, so I just did it." The rest, as they say, is history. They quickly formed a close friendship and have continued their involvement in their local church's music ministry each week while continuing to look for opportunities to use their musical abilities.
A couple of years ago they decided to try their hand at writing original songs when Rachel had a "chance" meeting with artist Ray Boltz. "We had only written one song (Hannah's Song), but I played it for him anyway. He was kind enough to listen and give me the name of a producer." After writing nine more songs, they headed out to Anderson, Indiana, and Nashville, Tennessee, to record their first CD, "Someday." With the completion of this CD comes Rachel and Mitzi's renewed hope and prayer that these songs will minister to people at any point in their life and that they will realize that God is a gracious, sovereign, and merciful God.
