Volunteer Opportunities
The following is a list of some of the voluteer opportunities at Fatih Presbyterian Church. There are many others as well that are not listed here (e.g., participation in the music ministry, assistance with the sound team, or with the audio-visual aspects of the worship, for which interested persons should speak to Mitzi Shetzline, Music Director; as well as numerous opportunities for service in mercy and service, for which the Deacons should be contacted).
Service to Worship Teams
Jeff MacKay, Coordinator
Service to Worship Teams assist in the preparation of the facility for Sunday worship each week by setting up and storing the necessary equipment. Every able-bodied male member and regular attender participates in this ministry on a rotating basis throughout the year.
Greeters
Bob Reiser, Coordinator
The Greeter Ministry consists of volunteers who welcome those attending each worship service. Greeters extend a warm welcome to visitors and regular attenders. They distribute bulletins and other information pertaining to the worship service and upcoming church activities, and oversee seating arrangements. Greeters also encourage visitors to sign the Welcome Book. Most importantly, this ministry provides the important first contact with those the Lord is leading to us by being friendly, answering questions and helping new attenders to feel comfortable.
Hospitality
Ellen Doughtery, Coordinator
The Hospitality Ministry encourages fellowship among the congregation each Sunday. Following the worship service, light snacks and refreshments are provided by a rotating list of volunteers to encourage a friendly atmosphere for social interaction and an opportunity for visitors to meet with regular attenders in an informal setting. This is a great job for newcomers to Faith.
Care Ministry (Deacons)
Jeff MacKay, Coordinator
Through the Care Ministry we seek to demonstrate the love of Christ to each other and to others, both during difficult times of need and on joyous occasions. We provide meals for those who are sick, in need, or upon the birth of a baby. On behalf of the congregation, we arrange for gifts to be given at baptisms, to honor graduates, to express our love to members who are moving, and to bless and thank our staff at Christmas time. We can and do provide financial assistance to those in need, upon request and interview. Our purpose is to show God’s love to one another in a tangible way, as well as in prayer. This ministry is funded solely by contributions made by the congregation. These funds can be given at any time and designated for "Care." The Christmas Eve and Good Friday offerings have been specifically designated for this purpose.
Fellowship Events
Tim Clydesdale, Event Coordinator,
with the Deacons
At various times of the year we have special events to promote friendship among our members, regular attenders, and recent guests. Volunteer help is always needed and appreciated.
